Christleton Sixth Form Students Rejoice at Fantastic A-Level Results.
Sixth Form students at Christleton High School are again celebrating, following the release of their A-Level and BTEC results today.
The COVID-19 pandemic has made Sixth Form life especially challenging for our Year 13 cohort, with their teaching in both Year 12 and Year 13 being heavily disrupted. Through these difficulties, they’ve risen to the challenge and ably demonstrated the levels of hard work, commitment and determination that will be invaluable in their next steps, whether that is university, apprenticeships or work.
Those results showed that more than 98.1% of students passed all their A-Level examinations, with 65% achieving a Grade B or above in every subject taken. The average grade was improved from B- last year to B this year - a remarkable outcome given the highly disrupted environment in which their studies took place.
Continuing improvements in recent years, all of the twenty-five subjects in which our students took A levels have a 98.9% pass rate, showing just how engaged students have been over the past two years in completing their studies, so much of which was done through remote learning.
At Christleton Sixth Form, as a highly inclusive Sixth Form, in addition to A levels, we also offer a range of high performing BTEC courses. 53.6% of students received a Distinction or Distinction* in their studies and 82.1% of students received a Merit or above.
Commenting on the fantastic results, Headteacher Darran Jones said:
“After the disruption to the end of their first year of Sixth Form, many of our Year 13 students came back to school in September 2020 refreshed and excited to be back in school studying the remainder of their courses. However, the post-Christmas lockdown provided a further challenge, which students rose to magnificently.
We are extremely proud of the highly mature way in which our Sixth Formers have handled their disrupted time in the Sixth Form over the past two years. They have been rewarded by achieving some fabulous results, that will no doubt help them in the transition from school life to further studies or employment in the wider working world.
On behalf of all of us at the School, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate every one of our students on their fantastic achievements. I would also like to thank our teachers for their total commitment and professionalism in changed circumstances and also, to parents and carers, whose support and constant encouragement has meant so much to our students.”

- Maisie Spauls (French, Italian & Russian at The University of St Andrews),
- Naomi Wallace (English Literature & History at The University of Edinburgh),

- Alice Watkinson (English Language & Literature at The University of Oxford),

- and Christopher Wilkinson (Computer Science at The University of Warwick).
Other notable successes came from:
- Will Lawrence (Politics & International Relations at The University of Exeter),
- Catrin Rees (Medicine at Keele University),
- Toby Sproston (International Business & Finance at The University of Manchester),
- Max Wade (International Business at The University of Leeds)
- And Nung Sirisot, who, alongside being recognised by The Diana Award for her anti-bullying activities, achieved two Distinction*s in BTEC Health Studies and Sports Studies, which along with her A level and EPQ, allow her to go to The University of York.
Head of Christleton Sixth Form, Mike Cosstick, was keen to praise the students for their achievements:
"As a Sixth Form Leadership team, we had high hopes for this Year group, and I am so pleased to be able to say that this excellent set of results, achieved in the most difficult of learning experiences possible, contains some outstanding individual results.
The results are representative of the immense hard work they put into their work, remote learning and assessments and it was fantastic to see so many happy faces as our students opened their envelopes!
Many students were delighted that they have been successful in their applications to prestigious universities, degree apprenticeships and jobs.
I really couldn’t be prouder, and I wish all our former students happy, healthy and successful futures."
