Christleton Sixth Form Students Celebrate Their Brilliant A-Level Results.

(Posted on 17/08/23)

Sixth Form students at Christleton High School are celebrating today, following the release of their A-Level and BTEC results.

Results this year showed that more than 98% of students passed all of their A-Level examinations, with 16% achieving AAB in 2 or more facilitating subjects. These outcomes are higher than our 2019 results (when papers were marked comparatively) and we continue to build upon our success.

Continuing improvements in recent years, all twenty-three subjects in which our students took A-Levels have a 98% pass rate, showing just how engaged students have been over the past two years in completing their studies, despite disruption during their GCSEs.

As an inclusive Sixth Form in addition to A-Levels, Christleton High School offers a range of high performing BTEC courses. 57% of our students undertaking a BTEC received a Distinction or Distinction* in their studies and 88% of students received a Merit or above.

Each student has risen to the challenge and ably demonstrated their commitment to hard work, and determination that will no doubt be invaluable for the next steps in their education path or career, whether that is university, apprenticeships or into the workforce.

Our highest achieving students included:

  • Charlie Lowman, who achieved A*, A*, A*, A, B, will go on to study Maths at Imperial College London.
  • Esme Mathialahan who achieved A*, A*, A*.
  • Alexander Maclean who achieved A*, A*, A*.
  • Madeline Wrigley who achieved A*, A*, A*.

Special mentions must also be extended to the following students who highly exceeded their expectations/predictions:

  • Joe Taberner who achieved A, B, B
  • Sam Oliver who achieved A*, A*, A*, A.
  • Iona Wilcock who achieved A*, A*, A.

  • Laura Catton, who achieved A*, A*, A, will go on to study medicine at the University of East Anglia.

Commenting on the fantastic results, Headteacher, Kevin Smith, said:

“After the significant disruption to their GCSEs, many of our Year 13 students joined Sixth Form excited to be back in school continuing their studies but still apprehensive of what lay ahead. These were the first formal external examinations sat by the students and the results exceed our 2019 outcomes, so we are absolutely thrilled with what the students have achieved.

As a school, we are extremely proud of the maturity our Sixth Formers have shown during their two-year study programme. They have rightly been rewarded by achieving some fabulous A-Level results that will no doubt help them to transition from school to university life or employment in the wider working world.

On behalf of all of us at Christleton High School, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate each of our students on their hard-earned achievements. I would also like to extend thanks to our teachers for their continued commitment and professionalism, and finally, to parents and carers, whose support and constant encouragement has no doubt meant so much to our students’ morale.”

At Christleton we feel it is important to celebrate achievements from all students, regardless of their grades, instead we measure what they have brought to our school community in their commitment to being kind, working hard, and accomplishments. Here are some students we’d like to highlight that we feel intrinsically embody our five C’s (Caring, Collaborative, Committed, Creative, and Cheerful):

  • Bea Hudson, who achieved A, A, B, consistently showed a collaborative attitude with other students and members of staff throughout their time at Christleton Sixth Form.
  • Lowri Sadler and Faye Harrowsmith, who achieved A, B, B and A*, A, A, B respectively, both demonstrated excellent care towards and for other students’ wellbeing.
  • Maria Georgiou, one of our head girls, who achieved B, B and Distinction in Performing Arts, embodied her commitment to Christleton Sixth Form.
  • Special mention must also be extended to Ailidh Jones, who achieved Distinction, C, D, and Luke Sturgess, who achieved A*, A*, B, who both expertly expressed their creativity and cheerfulness during their time at Christleton.

Director of Post-16 Education, Sheila Lister, was also keen to praise our students for their achievements:

"As a Sixth Form Leadership team, we always have high expectations of our students in their academic studies. Therefore, I am delighted to say that this exceptional set of results not only highlights the level of academic success our students have achieved within our Sixth Form but also demonstrates the immense personal growth and development they have undergone during the past few challenging years. It was fantastic to see so many of our students relish in their results.

These results are representative of the hard work our students put into their studying throughout the last two years, and it was fantastic not only to see so many happy faces as our students opened their envelopes but also to share in their success!

I really couldn’t be prouder, and I wish all our (now) former students a happy, healthy, and successful future. We can’t wait to see what you’ll achieve!"
