Christleton Students Celebrate Some Remarkable GCSE Results.

Christleton High School Year 11 students are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results.

More than 79% of students received five or more GCSEs at Grade 4 or above. Our average grade
stood at Grade 6 and a further 65% of students achieved a Grade 5 or above in both English and
Maths GCSEs. Our students should be happy and extremely proud of the academic progress and
personal development they have made, especially given the demands of the last two challenging
years.

We are extremely pleased that our overall grades remain largely similar to 2019 with more than
24% of students receiving a Grade 9 in one or more GCSEs, and 67% receiving a Grade 7 or
higher in one or more GCSEs. 16 of our highest performing students achieved a Grade 7 or above
in every subject they undertook, 4 of those achieving Grade 8 or higher.

Our highest achieving students included:

  • Alice Jawara who achieved: 6x 9s, 1x 8s, & 2x 7s.
  • Bianca Enache who achieved: 5x 9s, 3x 8s, & 1x 7.
  • Archie Croft who achieved: 4x 9s, & 5x 8s.
  • Lucy Harrison who achieved: 4x 9s, & 5x 8s.
  • Antoine Donnelly who achieved: 5 x 9s, 3 x 8s, 1 x D*.

Special mentions must also be extended to the following students who highly exceeded their expectations:

  • Calum Baillie who achieved: 2x 9s, 4x 8s, 2x 6s, & 1x D*.
  • Eve Haley who achieved: 2x 8s, 3x 7s, 3x 6s, & 1x 5.
  • Connie Davies who achieved: 1x 9, 4x 8s, 1x 7s, 2x 6s, & 1x D*.

Commenting on these fantastic results Headteacher, Kevin Smith, said:

“It is hard to understate just how proud we all are of our GCSE students this year. It has been a delight to watch our students handle these challenging years with the maturity and attitude of the young adults they are fast becoming. GCSE examinations are very intensive with over twenty papers sat over four working weeks and for the students to complete this and achieve these results is fantastic.

Along with our teachers we must give huge credit to all of our hardworking students for the perseverance and resilience they have shown.”

Head of Year 11, Laura Sweet, added:

“Our Year 11 students have encountered a great number of personal and academic challenges over their time studying the GCSE subjects, but they have faced them all with an incredibly positive attitude and work ethic at every step of the way.

I am so pleased to see all the hard work they put into their assessments pay off with an outstanding set of GCSE results. Along with their teachers and form tutors, I am very proud of everything they have achieved, both academically and personally. On behalf of all staff at Christleton, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank parents/carers for their continued support over the last 5 years.

Whether students intend to stay with us for Sixth Form or take another route through college or into work experience and apprenticeships, we wish them every success for the future.”

At Christleton we feel it is important to celebrate all of our students, regardless of their grades on the day, and therefore we are happy to recognise what they have brought to our school community in their commitment to being kind, to working hard, and their accomplishments. Here are just some of the many students that we feel have intrinsically embodied our values - The Five C’s of Christleton - Caring, Collaborative, Committed, Creative, and Cheerful:

  • Lilia Ziar and Chloe Makinson (who achieved: 3x 8s, 3x 7s, 1x 6, & 2x 5s and 3x 9s, 5x 8s & 1x D* respectively) both showed a very caring attitude toward their fellow students during their time at Christleton.
  • Henry Hughes (who achieved: 4x 9s, 3x 8s, 1x 7, & 1x 6) consistently showed a collaborative attitude during his studies.
  • Grace Monaghan and Douglas Parkinson (who achieved: 3x 9s, 4x 8s, 1x 7, & 1x D* and 2x 9s, 4x 8s, & 3x 7s respectively) showed high determination, drive and commitment throughout their studies at Christleton.
  • Ella Hassells and Matthew Young’s creative impact at Christleton must not go unnoticed, Ella achieved 4x 9s, 3x 8s & 2x 7s and Matthew achieved 1x 8, 4x 7s, 2x 6s, 1x 5, 1x D2.
  • Special mention must also go to Nicholas Yung who was always cheerful during his time here (Nicholas achieved: 2x 7s, 1x 6, 2x 5s, & 3x 4s).

Headteacher, Kevin Smith, added:

“Whether our students are leaving the school to start an apprenticeship or attend another educational establishment, we would like to wish them all the very best in the future.

For those staying with us to continue their studies or for those joining from elsewhere, our Director of Post-16 Education, Mrs Lister, is looking forward to welcoming all of our new Year 12 students on 5th September for our Year 12 Induction Day.

We urge all students, whether from Christleton or other schools, who have already enrolled in Christleton Sixth Form, to contact the school as soon as possible to confirm their place, as we have only a limited number of places available.”
