Sport
The Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 Sport Studies curriculum is theoretical, vocational, practical and valuable in learners’ physical, personal and social development. We actively encourage all students who have a passion and interest in sport either practically and/or theoretically to choose it as one of their options. Both of the Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 courses are split up into 4 units that focus on various areas of interest within the world of Sport and encourage students to delve deeper into their knowledge and understanding of Sport at all levels. The areas of study include:
Key Stage 4
- Fitness for Sport and Exercise
- Practical Sports Performance
- Applying the Principles of Personal Training
- The Sports Performer in Action
At Key Stage 4 students access 5, 1 hour long lessons across the two week timetable. Practical sport sessions are completed when they fit into the curriculum and are not scheduled weekly. Students should be aware of this before they opt for BTEC Sport.
