Sport - Cross Country
The season started with the first round of the 2017 ESAA Cross Country Cup at Walton Hall Gardens, Warrington. Teams were in great spirit and put in fantastic efforts. Top performances came from Henry Robinson (Junior Boys 3rd), Isaac Tait (Inter Boys 6th), Sophie Grainger (Junior Girls 2nd) and Lauren Acott (Inter Girls 11th). As a team event, Christleton didn’t manage to get through to round 2 but prepared themselves for the next event, the Chester & District cross country championships.
The boys event was postponed due to Storm Brian but the following week performances at Bishops Heber Malpas were outstanding Minor Boys and Junior Boys finishing 2nd and first respectively.
The girls event, hosted by Christleton was also very successful Junior girls 2nd. Sophie Grainger led the Junior girls race to finish first as Chester & District Champion.
A large number of boys and girls (top 20 from each race) qualified to represent Chester & District on February 3rd 2018 , plus top 5 finishers will be running for Cheshire on November 25th 2017.
