The Book Awards 2017

(Posted on 07/11/17)
After school on Tuesday 7th November 2017, seven Year 8 students piled into a bus and travelled to Winsford to the launch event for the Cheshire School Book Awards 2018. These book awards are a yearly event where all county schools send in a list of nominated novels made up of any book published by a UK author in 2016 to 2017. Miss Cowley put Christleton’s suggested books forward where they were compiled with other schools and whittled down to a selection of ten titles.
When we arrived at the book awards we were welcomed by a room of cakes, biscuits and drinks for everyone to eat and enjoy. After filling our boots with biscuits we got to meet the special guest author Robin Stevens who wrote the ‘Murder Most Unladylike’ series and the follow up story to the ‘London Eye Mystery’ called ‘The Guggenheim Mystery’. We were allowed to meet Robin Stevens and get her to sign our books and have our pictures taken with her.
After all our books had been signed and pictures taken, we sat down and listened to an amazing talk by a great author who talked about how she used to love spying on grown-ups. The awards were a big success, we were all happy to see some new books that we might like to read.
