Year 13 Last Day Celebrations

(Posted on 12/12/22)
This summer, before their A-Level exams took place, Year 13 students celebrated their last day at Christleton High School. Here's what some students... and teachers had to say:
"I loved everyone's enthusiasm on the day and I'm very grateful to all the people who poured buckets of cold water over my head!!!" - Mr Miller
"Seeing students enjoy themselves... seeing Mr Miller and a packed school hall singing 'Sweet Caroline'... seeing smiles everywhere..." - Mr Jones
"There definitely needs to be recognition for the Student Leadership Team, especially Esme and Maria, who all spent hours trying to come up with ideas for stalls and how to run them effectively and in the end producing an exceptional last day. The Karaoke/Open Mic was a huge success and should become a recurring event for future last days. It brought together all year groups and was a really good natured, inclusive activity that all the school enjoyed - even the teachers." - Matt Barrowcliffe
"What did I enjoy about the last day? Having an excuse to spend money throwing water over Mr Davies was excellent!" - Douglas Parkinson
"We chose Mind as our dedicated charity for our fundraiser on the last day, for our Anti Bullying Community Campaign. This is a charity which focuses its work on raising awareness, improving services and promoting understanding for mental health. There are about 125 Mind centres across England and Wales set up to provide local support with mental health." - Niamh Hales
"On the 13th of May, we celebrated the last day of summer term with our CHS Summer Fest! We may not have had famous headliners, but we had the talented Mr Clark and Mr Miller performing two very memorable versions of ‘Let Me Entertain You’ and ‘Sweet Caroline’ at the open mic. It was amazing to see so many students on the stage and interacting with the lively audience. With the weather being on our side, sixth formers were able to set up festival stalls; glitter, nails and hair, sweets, bead making, rent a goal, an ice cream van and the extremely popular Soak the Teacher. In the sports hall we had a bungee run, giant slide, sumo wrestlers and beat the goalie inflatables. The gym was full of silent disco goers and it was amazing to see the big smiles on everyone’s faces! The student council chose the relevant charity of “Mind” and raised £2000. It was a day of well earned celebration of all the hard work everyone has achieved in the year. Personally, I was overjoyed to see the return of fun shared between all the year groups, something that we have been unable to see in recent times due to covid. The student leadership team and I felt that this day was of huge importance to everyone as we know that so many were yet to experience a proper Christleton last day! I am really proud of what Sixth Form achieved, the day seemed to be enjoyed by all and served as a great comeback to celebrations that life before the pandemic offered. Big thanks to all the staff who helped with the organisation of the day, and an even bigger shoutout to the teachers who participated in the highlight of many students' day, Soak the Teacher!" - Maria Georgiou
