Christleton High School is a high-achieving centre of excellence that deserves its reputation as one of Cheshire’s best performing and oversubscribed schools.
The school is totally committed to enabling students of all abilities to identify and achieve their full potential within a caring, nurturing environment, and go on to achieve success and fulfillment.
Governors have an important part to play in raising school standards through their three key roles of setting strategic direction, ensuring accountability and monitoring and evaluating school performance.
Vacancies for Governors arise every year and the Governing Body welcomes interest from suitably motivated and committed individuals who believe they could make a positive difference and add real value to the school’s current well-being and future development.
Other than being at least 18 years of age, there are no particular qualifications or requirements. We’re looking for people with commitment, vision and energy who can bring skills or professional experience that can add real value to the school and all its stakeholders. People who just want to add ‘School Governor’ to their CV need not apply!
The Governing Body at Christleton High School now has greater responsibilities than ever before: we need people of talent who can commit the time required to fulfill the role to the required standard.
The minimum expectation is that you will attend all the full Governing Body Business meetings that are held every term after school hours.
In addition, you would be expected to join and contribute to at least one of the panels that also meet once a term. They are: Pastoral; Curriculum and Achievement; and Staffing. Wherever possible you’ll be matched with a panel that best suits your personal and professional profile and preferences.
Subject to their work and other commitments, Governors may also be invited to participate in a successful initiative that links the skills and interests of individual Governors with specific departments or subjects. This may involve termly or more frequent meetings at school.
From time to time, governors may also be required to take part in interview panels for recruitment or disciplinary purposes. You’ll also be encouraged to attend social events and some of the top quality musical and theatrical performances that are presented by the students on a regular basis.
