The aim of the A-level course is to provide a coherent, satisfying and worthwhile course of study that will forge an interest in and an enthusiasm for language learning. It provides the opportunity to communicate effectively in an ever-accessible global context, as well as to develop an awareness and understanding of contemporary society, heritage and cultural background.
You will study technological and social change, looking at diversity and the benefits it brings. You will also study highlights of Spanish-speaking artistic culture to include authentic music, film and literature as well as learning about political engagement and who wields political power in the Spanish-speaking world.
You will explore the influence of the past on present-day Spanish-speaking communities. Throughout your studies, you will learn the language in the context of Spanish-speaking countries and the issues and influences, which have shaped them. Finally, you will employ critical analysis in the study of texts and film and have the opportunity to carry out independent research in an area of your choice.
